Jackson State Engineering Student Named Apple HBCU Scholar

Jackson State Engineering Student Jordan Hubbard has been named an Apple HBCU Scholar.“I feel so honored to be an Apple Scholar. It is a complete dream come true,” said Hubbard, a senior. “It’s an amazing feeling seeing your hard work and dedication pay off, and with God, anything is possible. I just hope this serves as motivation to other students to keep pushing and bettering themselves every chance they get.”

Dr. Richard Alo, dean of the College of Science, Engineering, and Technology, said, “The College of Science, Engineering, and Technology is so proud of Mr. Hubbard. It is our continued aspiration that every CSET scholar utilizes every opportunity afforded to them in their studies and lives.”

According to JSU alumnus Luther Martin, Hubbard had no concept of engineering when he transferred to JSU from Holmes Community College. But, hard work and diligence propelled the scholar to a 4.00 GPA. In his free time, Hubbard delves into musical arts, sports, autonomous drones, embedded automation systems and other technology.

The Jackson native and aspiring software engineer is on track to graduate from Jackson State in December 2017. In the duration, he plans to apply to Stanford University’s graduate program to further his education.
