The HBCU homecoming is an annual tradition that occurs in the fall between late September and early November. Homecoming brings together current students, faculty, alumni, family and fans through a week-long series of social and cultural activities the ends with a homecoming football game.
Activities at the beginning of the week are more focused on students with events such as the coronation of the homecoming king and queen, followed by a coronation ball. Other on-campus activities for students can include health fairs, dorm and Greek step shows, fashion shows, talent shows, and dorm competitions. The activities towards the end of the week allow alumni and family members to join the fun. These activities can include alumni BBQs, block parties, homecoming convocations, president's galas, music concerts, and pep rallies. The homecoming week concludes with a parade and tailgate, leading up to the main event – the homecoming football game. Here is the schedule for the 2012 HBCU homecoming games.
