FindTheBest.com Wrongly Added AAMU to “Dangerous” List

FindTheBest.com Wrongly Added to "Dangerous" List, A&M Extended Apology

Alabama A&M University is NOT the second most dangerous campus in the nation. In response to the University’s questions regarding the rankings and the methodology of the study on crime statistics, FINDTHEBEST.com acknowledged their error and thanked the University for reaching out.

In their communication to the University, FINDTHEBEST.com indicated, “We’ve identified an error in the analysis of the data used in this report, which resulted in an incorrect ranking of dangerous colleges in the United States. We are currently working on an updated analysis, which will result in a new ranking and clarification of our methodology.”

The revised methodology reports the crime statistics consistent with the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reporting protocol.  As such, the rankings are based on violent incidents, including murder/non-negligent manslaughter, forcible and non-forcible sex offenses, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, motor vehicle theft, and arson. The revised listing may be found at the following website:  https://colleges.findthebest.com/stories/3443/dangerous-college-campuses

FINDTHEBEST.com extended its “sincere apology for any confusion and inconvenience the data has caused.”  Further, it has reached out to the various publications that ran stories using the original data to provide them with the updated rankings. It should be noted that many of the outlets have posted the updated listing.

“As a University Family, we are pleased that the error has been addressed and that AAMU has been appropriately removed from the list,” commented AAMU President Andrew Hugine, Jr.  “The University continues to make campus safety a high priority.  We have made significant progress in the past, but we will continue to be vigilant in our efforts going forward to ensure an environment that is supportive and conducive to the educational process.”
