Having Extra Money in College

When you are in college, money can be tight and everyone knows that. Even if you got a lot of financial aid to help you cover your educational costs or you took out loans, you will still need to have some extra spending money. Things come up that you have to pay for. There are so many ways that you can save some extra money while you are in college so you are not walking around with an empty wallet constantly. If you are looking for some ways to save some money, here is what you should know.

Saving money

When you are in college, you may find that you feel tired most of the time. You have to stay up late studying and you work hard to make good grades. You have come to depend on coffee or other drinks with caffeine in them to keep you awake. If you are spending money on multiple caffeine drinks per day, that can really add up. Going to McDonald’s for an iced coffee will cost you around $2.50 at a time, and if you buy more than one in a day, you will find yourself spending around $5 or even $10 in a day, depending on how much you drink. If you break the addiction and get more sleep, you will be saving around $50 a week and that can make a huge difference in the bank at the end of the month. If you are a smoker, it’s time to kick the habit. It’s not good for your health or your pocket book. When you live on campus, you have a meal plan. You’re paying big bucks for this meal plan, so why not use it? There is no point in paying for a college meal plan when you’re going to go out to eat with your friends all the time. Going out to eat with your friends can really add up, and depending on where you go to eat, it can cost you around $20 per meal. Finally, do not spend your money on silly things, such as drinking. You don’t need to drink alcohol and by not drinking, you can save a lot of money! Always remember that there are far better ways to use your money and saving money now can allow you to buy something you really want in the future.

Big payoff

Saving money can be hard, especially when you are in college, and if you like to buy things, it can almost be like an addiction. However, if you are the kind of person who wants to save for the future, there are many wonderful ways that you can do it if you think about it. You don’t have to always be drinking those high caffeine beverages. You don’t have to be smoking cigarettes because they aren’t good for your health and you do not have to be going out to eat all the time. All of these things can help you to save some money while you are in college!
