Many organizations have a long history of providing financial aid and scholarships to African American students and UNCF falls into this category. UNCF or The United Negro College Fund is an minority education organization that funds scholarships for students and general scholarships for 37 private Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Since its inception in 1994, UNCF has raised more than $3.6 billion to help more than 400,000 deserving students receive college degrees at its member institutions.

If you are a student attending any of these colleges or universities, it is wise to apply for this UNCF General Scholarship Program. Once you complete the application, the information provided by you will be used to match various scholarship programs administered by The United Negro College Fund for the academic year 2014-15.

  • Individual award: up-to $5,000

Eligibility Requirements for UNCF General Scholarship

To apply for the UNCF General Scholarship you must:

  • Be a U.S citizen, U.S national, or a permanent resident
  • Have a minimum GPA score of 2.5
  • Be a College Freshman, College Sophomore, College Junior, College Senior, College 5th Year Senior, or a Master's Student. Please note that high school seniors are not eligible to apply.
  • Be a student of UNCF affiliated colleges or universities
