Magazine Internships: 3 Publications for Spring 2015

If yes, then there is no better time to break into the industry than in college with an internship. Not only will it give you a chance to meet the people behind the scenes but also learn the pros and cons of the industry, and decide if being a part of it is right for you. So to get you started, we list three magazines that are seeking creative individuals to be a part of their team as an intern. Here are the magazine internships available for spring 2015.

TIME, Fortune, Money Spring 2015 PR Internship (New York, NY)

Company Overview
TIME, Fortune and Money – a global media brand is seeking a motivated, eager, and reliable intern to work in a fast-paced, engaging media environment for their public relations department.

Requirements and Eligibility
Apart from a keen interest in journalism and public relations, ideal candidate should be a junior or senior college student detail oriented, resourceful, and enthusiastic with proper phone etiquettes. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and understanding of social media platforms is a plus. Previous media experience preferred but not essential.

Responsibilities
Being an integral part of the PR team, interns would be required to assist with the development of press materials, database management, and TV bookings. Pitching online news stories, researching relevant media contacts, social media monitoring, and general administrative tasks are also included.

VIBE.com Editorial Internship (New York, NY)

Company Overview
Vibe.com covers all aspects of entertainment and some areas of fashion and lifestyle for SpinMedia-the largest digital publisher of entertainment news and 4th largest digital publisher of original music content in the United States.

Requirements and Eligibility
At present, Vibe is seeking a creative, detailed oriented individual with excellent communication skills for Editorial internship in New York. A major in English, Journalism, Writing, or media related program is essential along with knowledge and expertise of word, social media, and content management systems. Moreover, the intern must receive academic credit to be eligible to participate and be available for working for at least two full days.

Responsibilities
Daily tasks include compiling news briefs and sending pitches for the website. Transcribing interviews with celebrities and researching stories may follow up.

Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia Editorial Intern (New York, NY)

Company Overview
Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia (MSLO) is a leading provider of original “how-to” information. They focus on creating inspiring and engaging, unique lifestyle content and skillfully designed high-quality products.

Requirements and Eligibility
A major in English, Journalism, or Communications is essential along with excellent communication skills and a high level of professionalism. Writing experience at a publication is preferred. Qualified individuals should be in their junior or senior year at a four-year accredited college or university. Advanced degree program candidates are also eligible. School credit is a must along with 20 hour per week commitment for ten weeks.

Responsibilities
Daily tasks include calling in products for market and beauty pages and pitching and writing posts for the magazine’s blogs. Assisting the editorial department with various tasks follows up.
