History

    MSM history

  • Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM) was founded in 1975 as a two-year Medical Education Program at Morehouse College with clinical training affiliations with several established medical schools for awarding the M.D. degree.
  • In 1981, MSM became an independently chartered institution and the first medical school established at a Historically Black College and University in the 20th century.
  • Since 1981, MSM has graduated more than 1,200 students and more than 67% have chosen to honor the school's mission of serving communities.

Located in the historical West End neighborhood in Southwest Atlanta, MSM is a part of the Atlanta University Center, a consortium of world renowned Historically Black Colleges and Universities.
