Howard University to Host 2014 HBCU Lacrosse All Star Game

HBCU Lacrosse players run out on the field during the annual HBCU Allstar Weekend.

The 2nd Annual HBCU National Lacrosse All Star Showcase Weekend takes place at Howard University’s Greene Stadium November 8th and 9th, 2014.

The Historically Black Colleges & Universities (HBCU) Lacrosse Consortium will be hosting the 2nd Annual HBCU Lacrosse All Star Game at Howard University’s Greene Stadium on the weekend of November 8th and 9th. The HBCU Lacrosse Consortium (representatives from Hampton University, Howard University, Morehouse College, Morgan State University and University of Maryland – Eastern Shore) will join forces again to “Grow the Game” by showcasing HBCU Lacrosse men and women athletes at both the college and high school levels.

This year will include a youth tournament on Saturday; November 8th and the HBCU North vs. South Game that will take place in the evening. Sunday will consist of Women Club Lacrosse between Hampton University and Morgan State University, HBCU Prospect – High School All Star Game, and the Sankofa Lacrosse Alliance vs. HBCU Lacrosse All Stars. This game will consist of Lacrosse Super Stars (namely Chazz Woodson, Devon Sherwood, Drew Jenkins, Benin Bembry, Milton Lyles, Andrew Unthank … and so many more).

The purpose of the event to is 1.) Grow the game of lacrosse amongst HBCUs, 2.) Provide a source of scholarship to athletes at both the club and NCAA levels. The HBCU All Star Lacrosse Consortium is working closely with US Lacrosse, Sankofa Lacrosse Alliance, and the Urban Lacrosse Alliance to provide prospective HBCU students/lacrosse athletes the opportunity to play the sport at the university/college level. As one of the fastest growing sports in the United States, we are excited about the response from current HBCU Lacrosse programs as well as the prospective HBCU’s athletes who will be participating in the HBCU Lacrosse All Star Game at the high school level.

For more information and to register to participate in the HBCU All Star Lacrosse Game, visit us at http://hbculacrosse.com. Admission to this event is free.

About the HBCU Lacrosse Consortium

The purpose of the organization is to provide the Historically Black Colleges & Universities Lacrosse (HBCU LAX) student athletes, faculty, and staff who love the game of lacrosse, its competitive nature, cultural roots, and status of excellence; the opportunity to see and/or participate at a high level of college lacrosse. This will be achieved through the association by establishing an outlet of competitive lacrosse for HBCU athletes on HBCU college campuses.
