What’s better is that as innovation and technology are growing throughout the world, so is the contributions of black developers. In fact, they are known for playing a big role in the market. Today, we’ll show you five awesome mobile apps that have been created by HBCU Alumni.

HBCUIn

HBCUIn AppCreated by Grover Fields, an alumnus of Florida A&M University; HBCUIn is an official iPhone app for HBCU Information Network. HBCUin offers and a detailed view of all the Historically Black Colleges and Universities in the United States. So, if you are a prospective HBCU student or a parent, this free app is a must. You can download it from iTunes.

 

HBCU Events

HBCU Events AppCreated by graduates of North Carolina Central University and Tuskegee University under the name Universal Tutoring, LLC; HBCU Events is an app that features academic and sporting events from over 100 HBCUs worldwide. Now every important date is easily accessible at your fingertips for just $1.99. Download it from iTunes.

 

Make the Number

Make The Number App IconMake the Number was developed by Carlos Henry Lawton, Florida A&M University graduate. The App is a fun and educational game that will help to keep your mind sharp and your fingers quick. The app is designed for both iPad and iPhone and lets you play 35,000 different puzzles with ten levels of difficulty. It is free to download from iTunes.

 

Not Just Spring Break

Not Just Spring Break AppNot Just Spring Break (NJSB) is a creation of Khali Gallman, an alumna of Florida A&M University. NJSB is the only app of its kind that caters specifically to urban young professionals. It is a tool that showcases networking opportunities and vacation events. The app is available for 99 cents on iTunes and Google Play.

 

TopStar, A Mobile Talent Contest

TopStar AppTopStar is created by Morehouse alumnus Henry Mason. The purpose of the App is to help talented individuals get a real shot at becoming a star.  The application lets you upload a 21 second demo of your talent to a nationwide monthly contest and stand a chance to win $100. Currently, it is a free platform and is available for download on the iTunes store.
