Delta Community Awards Second Quarter HBCU Scholarship

Delta Community Credit Union Awards Second of Four HBCU Scholarships
Winner Janae Lyttle pictured with her father, Martin, KISS 104’s Veronica Waters and Delta Community COO Matthew Shepherd.

In celebration of its 75th Anniversary in 2015, Delta Community Credit Union in partnership with Atlanta radio station KISS 104.1 pledged to award a total of $7,500 in scholarships to select students of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).

After awarding the first scholarship to a McDonough teen-Adam Turner, it’s time to announce the second quarter winner.

Janae Lyttle is the second recipient of the scholarship program and has been recently awarded $1,875 at Delta Community’s Vinings Branch. She is a graduate of Union Grove High School and plans to attend Spelman College in Atlanta coming fall as a pre-med student majoring in biology in the school’s Honors Program.

The remaining two scholarships will be awarded each quarter in 2015. The next contest period will open in September. To participate, you can submit a 75-word or less nomination for a deserving student that attends or plans to attend an HBCU telling why he/she deserves or needs this scholarship. Students can nominate themselves as well. The winner will be contacted and announced by Kiss 104 on air within 7 days after the respective contest period.

HBCU Lifestyle congratulates Janae Lyttle for becoming the proud recipient of the HBCU scholarship and hopes to see the names of the next two deserving students on the list soon!

You can find more information about Delta Community’s young adult program on their HBCU Scholarship Contest Page.
