Miss Hampton University featured in Ebony magazine as Top 10 HBCU queen

HAMPTON — Dressed in a little black dress, stiletto-high platform heels and showing off toned legs, Miss Hampton University is listed as “The Dream Girl” in Ebony magazine’s annual campus queens edition.

Desiree Williams, a 2011 HU graduate, was flown to Atlanta for a photo shoot along with nine other campus queens who were among the Top 10 vote-getters in Ebony’s online competition for queens from historically black colleges and universities.

According to Ebony’s September issue, more than 2 million votes were cast. Williams, 22, says she was the top vote-getter with more than 1 million clicks during the week-long contest in late May.

HU helped boost her vote count, sending daily reminder emails to all staff and posting links on the university’s Facebook and Twitter accounts.
