LEDGE Magazine – Health Awareness & Lifestyle: By and For HBCU Students

Entry #57, February 27, 2011

LEDGE is the nation’s first and only HIV/AIDS awareness, general health and lifestyle magazine written BY and FOR students at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). The free publication’s mission to help destroy myths, empower young people with factual information, and create an additional avenue for much needed dialogue among HBCU students and beyond.

Ledge site

LEDGE launched its debut issue in 2004, and followed up with a second issue in 2006. With each issue, copies were distributed to over 80 Black college campuses as well as community centers, churches, health care groups and other organizations across the nation.

Plans are underway to begin resuming the publication of an annual hardcopy issue; however the LEDGE website (www.LedgeMagazine.com) will remain the primary vehicle, regularly posting new articles, videos, photos and information vital to its mission and audience.

LEDGE, a joint publication of the Black AIDS Institute (BAI) and OneDiaspora Group (ODG), was co-founded by BAI Executive Director Phill Wilson and BAI Board Member/ODG President Christopher D. Cathcart.

We need support by way of grants, sponsorships and advertising; and always seek new student writers, photographers and interns who want to become a part of this movement.

For more information on LEDGE, please visit the LEDGE website or send an email to contactus@Ledgemagazine.com.
