Former Howard University track athlete David Oliver was honored Saturday (Dec. 4) with the Jesse Owens Award as the Male Track & Field Athlete of the Year.

Oliver, the American Record Holder and 2008 Olympic Bronze Medalist in the 110 meter hurdles, was presented the award at a Gala held in conjunction with the USA Track & Field National Convention held in Virginia Beach, Va. this weekend. “Receiving this prestigious award is at the top of the list of things I have achieved athletically,” said Oliver. “I could never have done it without the help and support everyone has given me along the way. I definitely didn’t get to this point on my own,” continued Oliver who also won the Bronze Medal at the 2010 World Indoor Championships.
