Atlanta Football Classic Announces 2012 Halftime Show Lineup

ATLANTA, Aug. 22, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — Doug E. Fresh – “The original human beatbox” – will headline and emcee the halftime show of the 24th annual Bank of America Atlanta Football Classic to be themed “One Love. One Music. One Culture.” – it was announced today by the 100 Black Men of Atlanta, a volunteer community organization focused on education, empowerment and enrichment in African-American youth that presents the game. The halftime show will also feature the award-winning Southern University marching band, dubbed the Human Jukebox.

The Bank of America Atlanta Football Classic is one of the nation’s largest Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) football games and one of the biggest recurring sporting events in Georgia. The iconic HBCU event pits the Florida A&M University Rattlers against the Southern University-Baton Rouge Jaguars on Saturday, Sept. 29 at 3:30 p.m. at the Georgia Dome.

Tickets are now on sale at www.atlantafootballclassic.com, the Georgia Dome ticket office, www.ticketmaster.com or at the participating schools’ ticket offices. Ranging from $10 to $50, the affordable ticket prices ensure fans can enjoy the game and musical entertainment with money left over for food and merchandise.

Celebrating more than two decades of community and tradition, the Atlanta Football Classic offers a weekend filled with exciting and action-packed activities for everyone from the legendary Parade of Excellence presented by Kia, and the pre-game Fan Fest to the 100 Robotics Showcase and McDonald’s halftime show. This annual event is the 100 Black Men of Atlanta’s largest fundraiser for its mentoring, academic support and scholarship program, Project Success.

The “One Love. One Music. One Culture.” halftime show presented by McDonald’s will showcase the talents of the Southern University Human Jukebox marching band, which has performed in more Super Bowls than any other HBCU band. The high-stepping, show-stopping group will set the stage for performances by Doug E. Fresh and additional to-be-announced major musical acts that will bring the past and present of Hip Hop and R&B music to life for HBCU students, fans and alumni in attendance.

The Bank of America Atlanta Football Classic will be telecast live nationwide on NBC Sports.
