Created in 1970, Essence magazine serves African-American female population. The topics covered range from fashion to celebrities, to point of view pieces addressing current issues in African American community. Published by Essence Communications, Inc, the magazine is located in New York City.

About Essence Magazine Internship

Hosted through the Time Inc, this summer internship program is a 9 week paid learning opportunity where you will receive on job training that will not only enhance your education but will also prepare you for a future career in the media industry. Even though each internship position is a different learning experience, you can be sure to gain an experience that can serve as a road map for your future career endeavors.

Eligibility Requirements for Essence Magazine Internship

Apart from the obvious interest in media industry and issues related to African-American women, Essence is looking for students who are self-motivated, professional and extremely detail oriented. You must be an undergraduate or graduate student to apply for an Editorial or Publishing internship.

How to Apply

To apply for an Essence Magazine internship, submit a completed application, along with your resume and writing sample or a digital portfolio including your photography and/or designs. Make sure to mention your interest in working with Essence in your Time Inc application.  Application deadline is January 16, 2015.
